The People’s Republic of China and Grenada established diplomatic relations in October 1985, cut ties in 1989, and resumed diplomatic relations in 2005. Since diplomatic relations resumed, the friendly relations between the People's Republic of China and Grenada have grew steadily, political mutual trust has been deepened continuously, economic and trade cooperation has been significantly enhanced, with fruitful education and training cooperation and increased people-to-people exchanges and tourism cooperation. In the spirit of South-South cooperation and internationalism, China has provided a large amount of developmental assistance to Grenada, which made great contributions to promoting Grenada’s economic and social development, improving Grenadian people’s educational and cultural level, and promoting the progress of people’s livelihood. It has been widely welcomed by the people of Grenada. On June 2, 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister KeithMitchell held a meeting in Trinidad and Tobago, which further pushed the friendly cooperation between the two countries to anew height.
