Second Phase of Housing Project Launched in Carriacou
2017/02/06

On January 21st, Chinese Ambassador to Grenada H.E. Mme. Ou Boqian and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Legal Affairs, Carriacou and Petite Martinique of Grenada, Hon. Mr. Elvin Nimrod together visited one of the building sites of China-aided low income housing project in Carriacou. Representatives from the government, people and medias were also present.

Ambassador Ou said that January 20th marked the 12th anniversary of resumption of diplomatic ties between China and Grenada, to which Mr. Deputy Prime Minister has contributed a lot. In the past 12 years, China-Grenada relations were developing rapidly. As today is a special day, I am very pleased to join the Deputy Prime Minister Nimrod to announce the official launch of the second phase of the housing project and share the good news with the people of Grenada. I wish that the project goes smoothly.

Hon. Nimrod said the resumption of diplomatic relations between Grenada and China in 2005 was the best decision made by the government and people of Grenada. Since the resumption of diplomatic ties 12 years ago, both countries have seen rapid and sound development in bilateral relations, from which Grenadian people have benefited tremendously. We sincerely appreciate China's selfless assistance to Grenada and we will continue to firmly support China in regional and international affairs. Grenada will always be a best friend of China.

While in Carriacou, Ambassador Ou also visited personnel of some Chinese enterprise working locally and wished them a happy and peaceful Spring Festival.
