The People’s Republic of China and Grenada established diplomatic relations in October 1985. After a period of suspension beginning in 1989, bilateral ties were restored in 2005. Since the resumption of diplomatic relations, the friendship between the People's Republic of China and Grenada has grown steadily, political mutual trust has been deepened continuously, economic and trade cooperation has been significantly enhanced, with fruitful education and training cooperation and increased people-to-people exchanges and tourism cooperation. In the spirit of South-South cooperation and internationalism, China has provided substantial developmental assistance to Grenada, contributing significantly to its economic and social development, the enhancement of its people’s educational and cultural well-being, and the improvement of livelihoods. These efforts have been warmly received by the Grenadian people. On January 13, 2025, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Prime Minister of Grenada Dickon Mitchell, who was in China for an official visit, drawing a new blueprint for deepening and developing China-Grenada relations.
