On June 17, 2025 H.E. Wei Hongtian, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Grenada, along with Thaddeus Peters, the Chief Agricultural Officer of the Ministry of Agriculture, senator Roderick St.Clair, the General Manager of the Grenada Cooperative Nutmeg Association, experts from the Chinese Agricultural Mission Centre at La Sagesse and local farmers attended the launch ceremony of the “Plant Distribution 2025” held at the Mirabeau Agricultural Station in St. Andrews.

Ambassador Wei introduced China’s agriculture development, bilateral relations and cooperation under the past 20 years, especially in the field of agriculture between China and Grenada. He stressed that the China-Grenada Agricultural Technical Cooperation Project, which has been implemented for 8 consecutive phases, has contributed greatly to the agricultural development of Grenada. He called on farmers and the government to work more closely together to increase food production and agricultural product security, and to make the agricultural sector more resilient to climate disasters. China will, as always, make joint efforts to help Grenada achieve its goals.

Mr. Peters expressed his gratitude for China’s long-term assistance and support. As unforeseen disasters such as hurricanes often cause huge damage to agriculture, he pays more attention to the development of agricultural production and food safety and hopes that farmers can make full use of the seeds and plants and produce the staple of Grenada.
